Tammy and the Bachelor is a 1957 romantic comedy film and is the first of the four Tammy films. It stars Debbie Reynolds as Tambrey "Tammy" Tyree, Walter Brennan as Grandpa Dinwitty and Leslie Nielsen as Peter Brent. It was adapted from the 1948 novel Tammy Out of Time by Cid Ricketts Sumner.
Tammy and the Bachelor. Debbie Reynolds was 24 years old and pregnant with daughter Carrie Fisher during filming. The title song "Tammy" became a number one smash hit for Debbie Reynolds in 1957 winning her a Gold Record. Debbie Reynolds' single "Tammy" spent 23 weeks on the "Top 40" charts, starting 07/22/57. It was #1 for five weeks.
