Katina Paxinou was a Greek stage and film actress. She was a founding member of the National Theatre of Greece and won an Academy Award for her role in "For Whom the Bell Tolls" (1943). She returned to Greece in the 1950s and continued her stage career while appearing in European films. Paxinou was born in 1900 and died in 1973.
