It is a satire of the action genre and associated clichés, containing several parodies of action films in the form of films within the film. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Jack Slater, a fictional Los Angeles police detective.
So, while I was going to see Jurassic Park 7 times at the theater, Last Action Hero didn't even register with me. It's an amazing film. The kid protagonist can be a little irritating, buuuut I think that's kind of the point.
