Quincy Delight Jones Jr., dit Quincy Jones [ˈ k w ɪ n s i d͡ʒ o ʊ n z] [1] et surnommé « Q » [k j u ː] [1], né le 14 mars 1933 à Chicago , est un trompettiste, arrangeur, compositeur, réalisateur et producteur américain.
Quincy Jones verbrachte seine Kindheit in Chicago. Bei einem Einbruch in ein Veteranenheim der US-Armee entdeckte er seine Liebe zur Musik. In Bremerton im US-Bundesstaat Washington lernte er als Teenager Ray Charles kennen, mit dem er eine kleine Combo gründete und durch die lokalen Jazz-Klubs von Seattle zog. Mit 17 bekam er ein Stipendium für das Berklee College of Music in Boston.
