Fritz Lang wuchs in Wien als Sohn des Stadtbaumeisters Anton Lang (1860–1940) und der Bauunternehmerin Paula Lang (geb. Pauline Schlesinger (1864–1920)) auf. Langs Vater stammte aus Wien, seine Mutter aus Brünn, beide starben in Gars am Kamp, wo sie auch begraben liegen.
