At Allegheny College, we invite our students not to limit themselves — but instead to explore all of their interests. Every Allegheny student takes courses in each division of knowledge — humanities, natural sciences and social sciences — declaring both a major and a minor (outside the division of their major) by the end of their sophomore year.
Allegheny encourages students to explore their artistic side — whether they are interested in the creative and critical study of theatre, rhetoric, and media; discovering their passions in dance, music or art; or performing on stage as part of the College’s Playshop Theatre. Allegheny College is test-optional, and has been for for almost 10 years. Our admission committee reviews applications through a holistic process with over 50% of our students applying without SAT or ACT scores. Test scores are just one of the many factors that we will take into consideration as we get to know you better.
Beyond academics, Allegheny College provides a thriving and inclusive community which shapes my perspectives to contribute significantly to my community and the world at large. The school places emphasis on transformational leadership and community service, promoting holistic development.
