The Ghost of Tom Joad is a paradoxically purposely flawed album, where Springsteen attempts to convey through music the ability to rise above life’s painful limitations and meanest of fates. One is left realizing, especially after reading Bruce’s autobiography, how aptly the life of Bruce and his family dovetail into the Steinbeck narrative.
