Alta Rockefeller Prentice (April 12, 1871 – June 21, 1962) was an American philanthropist and socialite, daughter of Standard Oil co-founder John D. Rockefeller.

Scope and Contents The papers include correspondence sent by Alta Rockefeller Prentice or her son, Spelman Prentice to Hedwig "Hattie" M. Snook from 1949 to 1967. The Prentices employed Mrs. Snook from Spring 1936 until the mid 1950s at which time she worked for the family off and on.
Alta House is a landmark building in the Little Italy neighborhood, founded in 1900 by John D. Rockefeller Sr. for his daughter Alta Rockefeller Prentice. It was a settlement house that offered various services to the Italian immigrants, such as food, education, and social activities.
