Joe Palooka is an American comic strip about a heavyweight boxing champion, created by cartoonist Ham Fisher. The strip debuted on April 19, 1930 and was carried at its peak by 900 newspapers. It was cancelled in 1984.
Joe is witness to a mob killing. Two of the killers are after him. He is drugged before the big fight which is watched on TV by his manager Knobby and the thugs who are holding Knobby hostage.
Heavyweight boxing champion Joe Palooka and his friend Tiny are jogging through the countryside when they hear shots and see two gangsters speeding away, leaving a dead body in the bushes. At Joe's training camp, his manager, Knobby Walsh, implores Joe to forget what he saw, but Joe insists on calling the sheriff.
