The Friends of Distinction were an American vocal group founded by Harry Elston and Floyd Butler, best known for their late 1960s hits, "Grazing in the Grass", "Love or Let Me Be Lonely", and "Going in Circles".
Floyd Lawrence Butler. R&B Musician. A native of San Diego, California, he was a member of the musical group, 'The Vocals' from 1963 until they disabanded in 1965. The group formed in Los Angeles, California, and included Lamonte McLemore, Marilyn McCoo, Harry Elston, and of course Butler.
3 de ago. de 2012 · The group was formed in 1968 by Harry Elston, Floyd Butler, Jessica Cleaves and Barbara Love, who was replaced by Charlene Gibson in 1970 during her pregnancy. Elston and Butler had been part of Ray Charles’ backing band in the mid-60s, a group called the “Hi-Fi’s.”
Known most for their pop smash "Grazing in the Grass," the Friends of Distinction were founded by Harry Elston and Floyd Butler and included Jessica Cleaves and Barbara Jean Love, as well as later member Charlene Gibson, who replaced Love during her pregnancy.
