Lawrence Eugene Doby (December 13, 1923 – June 18, 2003) was an American professional baseball player in the Negro leagues and Major League Baseball (MLB) who was the second black player to break baseball's color barrier and the first black player in the American League.

Larry Doby was the first African-American to play in the American League and the second in the modern era after Jackie Robinson. He was a seven-time All-Star, a World Series home run hitter, and a manager of the Chicago White Sox.
Larry Doby was a Hall of Fame center fielder who played for the Cleveland Indians from 1947 to 1956. He was the second African American player in MLB history and won the AL MVP award in 1954.
