  1. Henry Edward John Stanley, 3rd Baron Stanley of Alderley and 2nd Baron Eddisbury (11 July 1827 – 11 December 1903), also known as Abdul Rahman Stanley, was a British nobleman and historian who translated The first voyage round the world by Magellan and other works from the Age of Discovery.

  2. In 1869 he inherited hereditary titles upon the death of his father, Edward John Stanley, 2nd Baron Stanley of Alderley, becoming Henry Edward John Stanley, 3rd Baron Stanley of Alderley and 2nd Baron of Eddisbury, and the first Muslim member of the House of Lords.

  3. In June 1869, Henry Stanley succeeded his father to become the third Lord Stanley of Alderley and second Baron Eddisbury. He settled permanently in Britain with Fabia, whom he married according to English law (1869) and later with a Roman Catholic ceremony (1874).
