Stephen Poyntz (1685–1750), of Midgham in Berkshire, was an English diplomat and courtier. Early life. Born in London, and baptised at St Michael Cornhill in November 1685, he was the second son of William Poyntz, upholsterer, of Cornhill, and his second wife Jane Monteage.

13 de abr. de 2022 · Stephen Poyntz was the son of William Poyntz, upholsterer of Cornhill and his second wife, Jane Monteage. Born in 1685 he was baptised at St Michael, Cornhill in November. He was educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge, graduating BA in 1706.
His polished rococo style made him popular with members of the elite like Stephen Poyntz, a diplomat who spent years in foreign courts before being appointed in 1730 as governor and steward of the household of the Duke of Cumberland, George II’s second eldest son and brother of the Prince of Wales.
The man chosen to replace William Finch at Stockholm was a trusted henchman of Lord Townshend, Stephen Poyntz, of whom there is due notice in the Dictionary of National Biography. He reached his post in October 1724.
