Charles Wayland Bryan (February 10, 1867 – March 4, 1945) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 20th and 23rd Governor of Nebraska, and Mayor of Lincoln, Nebraska, and was the Democratic nominee for Vice President in 1924.
CHARLES W. BRYAN, the twenty-first and twenty-fourth governor to serve Nebraska, was born in Salem, Illinois, on February 10, 1867. His education was attained at Illinois College in Jacksonville and at the University of Chicago.
CHARLES W. Bryan is one of those political figures who has been lost in the historiographical shuffle. At least two reasons help to account for this. In 1924, Bryan became an early statistic by being defeated in his only attempt at national office--the Vice-Presidency of the United States.
