The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco (formerly known as Salesian College Grammar School, Savio Catholic High School and then Savio Salesian College) is a Roman Catholic secondary school in Bootle, Merseyside, England.
We are the largest Congregation of women religious with over 11,000 Sisters serving in 97 countries. Founded in 1872 by St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello, the Salesian Sisters are dedicated to reaching the youth for Christ.
St. Mary Mazzarello and her first companions were able to profess their perpetual vows on August 28, 1875 in the presence of Don Bosco, after studying with the Sisters of St. Anne for their religious formation. The following years brought many joys, great and small, to the Salesian Sisters.
We are led by nearly 30,000 missionaries including Salesian Priests, Brothers, Sisters and novices who serve as Salesians of Don Bosco (S.D.B.), the second largest order in the Roman Catholic Church. We are joined by thousands of passionate volunteers, committed lay staff and generous donors.
