26 de may. de 2017 · Pulmonary embolism is a rare and potentially high-risk perioperative situation, with a difficult diagnosis when occurs under anesthesia. The separation phenomenon of decrease in PETCO2 and increase in PaCO2 might be a useful and suggestive sign, enabling prompt management and therefore improving the prognosis.
1. Introduction. Surgery puts patients at increased risk for pulmonary embolism (PE). Anesthesiologists may find themselves responsible for the diagnosis and management of this sometimes fatal disorder.
The purpose of this narrative review is to provide guidance to anesthesiologists for the assessment and management of patients having catheter-based thrombectomy for acute pulmonary embolism. First, available techniques for catheter-based thrombectomy are reviewed.
