Philip Parris Lynott ( / ˈlaɪnɒt /, LIE-not; 20 August 1949 – 4 January 1986) was an Irish musician, songwriter, and poet. He was the co-founder, lead vocalist, bassist, and primary songwriter for the hard rock band Thin Lizzy.
The Thin Lizzy singer, who had a history of drug and alcohol abuse, passed away on 4 January 1986 at the age of 36. He was admitted to Salisbury Hospital with a serious kidney and liver infection after collapsing at his home on Christmas Day.
