The gallery is a freestanding volume situated within a park-like garden of birches and conifers between the street and the house from the 1960s. Thus the building can be used both as a public as well as a purely private gallery; a role that is to be settled in the future.

The Sammlung Goetz is an internationally significant and renown collection of contemporary art with its own exhibition building in Munich-Oberföhring.

The exhibition building of the Sammlung Goetz was designed by the Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron in 1989/90 and completed in 1993. The elongated two-storey gallery has an additional mezzanine located in a park-like garden.
We have had offices in various locations since the 1990’s. Projects like Galerie Goetz, the Allianz Arena and the Elbphilharmonie have pushed the boundaries of their typologies, made an international impact, and were catalysts for our practice.
In this residential suburb of Munich, the large plots allotted to the villas merge in a sort of on-going park with consolidated plantations of birch trees, willows and a few evergreens.
