28 de nov. de 2021 · Discovering the truth, the X-Men hunted down their base and defeated the Church of Humanity -- with Nightcrawler learning their Pope had actually been a former Catholic Nun, who had turned against the Catholic Church after she'd been sexually assaulted (and then framed for infidelity) by a Priest.

Kurt thinks *they were*, and it’s revealed that Kurt’s journey to becoming a Priest was all an extremely elaborate hoax by the Church of Humanity, part of a plot to make Nightcrawler the Pope.
20 de jun. de 2022 · Kurt’s belief that he had been ordained a priest was a complete fiction; the racist Church of Humanity had used a mutant psychic to brainwash him into believing this had happened and he was now serving at an actually-abandoned church in Brooklyn so that they could eventually make him the Pope.

Nightcrawler is explicitly Catholic. Catholicism is... Well, more comfortable with folk/pagan elements being interwoven with it than other Christian sects. From Italian Benedicaria, to various South American practices blending magical practice with Catholicism.
