Dave Gibbs (born August 22, 1965) is an American singer-songwriter, best known for his work in the Boston-based power-pop band, Gigolo Aunts. Born and raised in Potsdam, New York, Gibbs co-founded the Gigolo Aunts with brothers Steve and Phil Hurley, and drummer Paul Brower in 1986.
Dave is the fourth Sheldon Cooper fan who has appeared in the show after Ramona Nowitzki, Kathy O'Brien and Wil Wheaton. Stephen Merchant, the actor that played Dave, also voiced Wheatley, a personality core on the puzzle game Portal 2.
He appeared in three episodes of The Big Bang Theory as Dave Gibbs, a guy Amy dates after she breaks up with Sheldon. He has portrayed George Washington and Abraham Lincoln on the Comedy Central series Drunk History. Through the show's first four seasons, Merchant is the only actor to play the same historical figure (Lincoln) twice.
