Ernest Dale Tubb (February 9, 1914 – September 6, 1984), nicknamed the Texas Troubadour, was an American singer and songwriter and one of the pioneers of country music. His biggest career hit song, " Walking the Floor Over You " (1941), marked the rise of the honky tonk style of music.

Ernest Tubb was an American country music singer and songwriter. His first musical influence was the yodeling of Jimmie Rodgers. He became one of the earliest exponents of honky-tonk with hits such as “I’m Walking the Floor over You” (1941). He joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1942, and he became one.
In a fifty-year career, honky-tonk trailblazer Ernest Tubb developed from a Jimmie Rodgers imitator to one of the most influential and important country performers in history.
