Harold Guy Hunt (June 17, 1933 – January 30, 2009) was an American politician who served as the 49th governor of Alabama from 1987 to 1993. He was the first Republican to serve as governor of the state since Reconstruction.

30 de ene. de 2009 · Harold Holcombe “Guy” Hunt. Forty-ninth Governor of Alabama (1987-1993) Harold Guy Hunt was born at Holly Pond, Alabama, in Cullman County. He graduated from Holly Pond High School in 1950. During the Korean War, Hunt served in the U.S. Army.
Bunker Hunt was briefly one of the wealthiest men in the world, having discovered and taken title to the Libyan oil fields, before Muammar Gaddafi nationalized the properties. While still married to Lyda, H. L. Hunt is said to have married Frania Tye of Tampa, Florida, in November 1925 by using the name Franklin Hunt.
H. Guy Hunt. In 1987, 54-year-old H. Guy Hunt was elected Governor of Alabama, the first Republican elected to the position since Reconstruction. In 1991, a taxpayer sued Hunt, claiming he improperly used state funds to travel to out-of-state religious events.
Hunt’s political career began in 1962 when he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the state Senate. In 1964 he was elected Probate Judge of Cullman County, a position he held for 12 years. Active in the Republican Party, he held high positions in Ronald Reagan’s state campaign organization.
