Por entonces el grupo estaba compuesto por Emilio Estefan Jr. (percusión y teclados), Gloria Estefan (voz), Merci Murciano (voz), Raúl Murciano (piano), Enrique “Kiki” García (tambores), Juan Marcos Ávila (bajo) y Wesley B. Wright (guitarra).
Merci and Raul left the band in late 1982, just prior to the recording of the third CBS International LP Rio. The painfully shy Gloria was now the sole lead vocalist on stage and in the studio. As a result, she began to evolve both systematically and stylistically in her performances.
