Secret Agent of Terra is a 1962 science fiction novel by British writer John Brunner. It is the first book of the Zarathustra Refugee Planets series; the other books are Castaways' World (1963) and The Repairmen of Cyclops (1965).
The news of this turn of events comes to the attention of the galactic government, who suspect that the outsider is actually a slaver from the planet Cyclops, and they send a woman secret agent to figure out and fix the problem, without alerting the natives that there such a thing as a Galactic government.

Ace Double book. Original novel "Secret Agent of Terra" is the first book in Brunner's "Zarathustra Refugee Planets" series [the other books are "Castaways' World" (1963) and "The Repairmen of Cyclops" (1965)]. Brunner later reworked the story for his 1969 novel "The Avengers of Carrig."
Secret Agent of Terra: Fairly simple story, reasonably predictable. None of the characters were as likable as Calver from The Rim of Space. The heroine was built up with a bit of background, but when she actually got to her mission there wasn't really much action happening that wasn't a direct passive following of the circumstances.
On a last-chance assignment, agent Maddalena is sent to investigate the problem, but the project goes pear-shaped when she's stranded in the planet's polar region. Quite imaginative and entertaining, though the ending seems a bit rushed.
